SUMMARY: The state of Alabama has been highlighted in a Slight (Level 2/5) severe weather risk tomorrow, and an Enhanced Risk for NW Alabama. Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will come in the form of a line early Thursday morning and last throughout the early afternoon hours.
Hazards with thunderstorms
- Destructive winds of 75 MPH or greater with the highest possibility of this west of Interstate 65. Elsewhere, damaging winds of 50 MPH or greater
- Large hail
- A tornado
Potential impacts
Winds of this magnitude can cause significant tree and structural damage. Trees can fall on power lines and cause power outages. Saturated soils may cause trees to fall more easily.
Winds outside of thunderstorms will be gusty, in the 35-45 MPH range.
