CST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4
  inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

* WHERE...Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin AL, Lawrence, Limestone,
  Madison, Morgan and Jackson counties.

* WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 9 AM CST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Snow and ice covered roadways will be possible.
  Travel could be very difficult.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The combination of heavy snow and gusty
  winds may lead to tree and power line damage.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

SUMMARY: Winter Weather Advisories are in effect from 9:00pm Friday (11th) until 9:00am Saturday (12th) for northern Alabama. Bitter cold air will be met by moisture Friday night. A change to all snow is expected by late Friday night. Temperatures will bottom out Friday evening into the lower 30’s and reach the lower 20’s overnight. Surface temperatures will quickly fall leading to hazardous travel conditions Saturday morning. Temperatures will only reach the mid 30’s on Saturday. Conditions will improve Sunday.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for southern middle Tennessee and a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for all of north Alabama. These are effective from 9 PM Friday evening through 9 AM Saturday morning. This is for significant travel impacts and a high probability of snowfall accumulations of 1-3 inches. A few locations could reach above 3 inches in southern middle Tennessee.
Snowfall accumulations of 2-3 inches are expected in southern middle Tennessee and 1-3 inches in much of north Alabama. The lowest amounts of an inch or less are expected in south and east areas of north Alabama.
