A risk of severe weather still exists today, mainly this afternoon and evening, however, some uncertainty has begun to take place over the past several hours, and quite honestly – we’re not gonna know what happens until the day starts progressing, making this a conditional severe weather threat.

The Storm Prediction Center’s Outlook puts a large portion of our Zones in the Enhanced (Level 3/5) risk. The atmosphere is absolutely primed for supercell development, including rotating supercells. The limiting factor that is in place is a CAP that will prevent storms from reaching that point. Basically, it’s like if you shake a soda can without opening the lid. Once that lid pops after you shake it, it goes out of control, but keep the lid on and the soda behaves.
