Here at Alabama Weather Prediction, the information we get and pass along comes from reliable sources, such as the NWS or broadcast meteorologists. You can’t look any further than Jason Simpson at WHNT, who announced he will be changing careers on October 1st.
Jason has always been one of my go-to sources when it comes to the weather. Period. I never got a chance to meet him in person, but I interacted with him more times than I can count on social media. We’ve shared images, we got involved in dorky weather conversations. Even though I have never formally shaken hands with Jason, I believe it’s safe I could call him one of my “weather buddies”.
Jason is leaving WHNT to better support his family and help out that work/life balance. With working in retail myself, I know that struggle. My words to Jason are thank you, and God bless you in your future endeavors.– Andrew Kratochvil, Alabama Weather Prediction Leader
Jason was an asset to the weather community. There’s no doubt that his role in 4/27/2011 saved lives that day.
He will be missed.– Benjamin Appleby, Alabama Weather Prediction Co-Leader
Jason will definitely be missed. His calm demeanor during severe weather was unmatched except for James Spann. That is a quality I think every TV meteorologist needs. Good Luck to Jason in his future endeavors!– Jacob Hamilton, Alabama Weather Prediction Member
Jason will be missed so much. Even as a trained storm spotter, he has helped settle my nerves more than once. I wish him well on his new journey!– Andrea Hinkle, Alabama Weather Prediction Member
