Air Quality Alert for Huntsville and Decatur Until Midnight
Visibility issues have been reported around the Tennessee Valley due to wildfires across East Tennessee, Georgia and South Carolina. Easterly winds have caused the smoke to settle across the area. This has reduced visibility, and may cause issues with breathing especially those with asthma.

…Smoke from fires to the east impacting the area…
Several large forest fires continue to burn across portions of northern Georgia, eastern Tennessee and far western North Carolina. Based on satellite, the largest of these fires appears to be the Rough Ridge Fire near the Cohutta Wilderness, Georgia.
Over the last few days the wind flow has helped to push the smoke from these fires westward into the Tennessee Valley. The stagnant nature of our airmass will allow the smoke to linger through at least Monday.
